Biografia | Biography

SUSANA RESENDE works as an illustrator and painter, with published works in institutional and fiction books, plus comics. Also works as teacher for arts & sequential art courses. Holds a degree in Painting by Lisbon College of Fine Arts (1999-2005), Bachelor degrees in Drawing by National Society of Fine Arts (1998-2001) and in I.T. (2002) from EPM and also a Pedagogic Competence Certificate (2012). Conducted residency as Arts Teacher in the Cercica institute (2007-2008).
Was nominated for a Best Short Comic at the XII Trophies Central Comics (2014) for her debut – placed 2nd – and won that same category in 2018.
Frequently works with publisher Apenas Livros, in the Infante Portugal and Aurora Boreal series (2010-2020), plus producing illustrations/design for illustrated decks of playing cards (2018-2021), with spotlight in the authoral decks Shuffled Cats (2018), Dog Suffles (2019) and Animal Proverbs (2021). Has illustrated children books, magazines and comics anthologies, and is a regular presence in art exihibitions and comics/illustration exhibits. Has held thirty individual painting exhibitions in Portugal and Liverpool (UK). Currently develops her first original graphic novel.

SUSANA RESENDE trabalha como pintora, ilustradora e autora de BD, com obras publicadas em livros institucionais e de ficção, e em BD. Também é professora em cursos de desenho e arte sequencial. É licenciada em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa (1999-2005), tem Bacharel em Desenho pela Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes (1998-2001) e T.I. pela EPM (2002), e ainda Certificado de Competência Pedagógica (2012). Estagiou como Professora de Arte no Instituto Cercica (2007-2008).
Foi nomeada para Melhor Obra Curta no XII Troféus Central Comics (2014) pela sua estreia no sector – alcançou o 2º lugar – e venceu a mesma categoria em 2018.
Colabora frequentemente com a editora Apenas Livros, nas séries Infante Portugal e Aurora Boreal (2010-2020), e produz ilustrações/design para baralhos de cartas ilustrados (2018-2020), tendo produzido os autorais Gatos Baralhados (2018), Baralhas de Cães (2019) e Provérbios de Animais (2021). Ilustrou livros infantis, revistas e antologias de BD, e é presença regular em mostras e eventos de BD e ilustração, tendo ainda realizado trinta exposições a solo de Pintura em Portugal e Liverpool. Actualmente desenvolve sua primeira novela gráfica.
