II Curso de BD - Rescaldo | II Comics Course - Aftermath

 Terminou há 3 semanas o 2º módulo do II Curso de BD no Museu Bordalo Pinheiro, que tive o imenso prazer de coordenar, após convite do director João Alpuim Botelho e do formador / coordenador Penim Loureiro. Embora não tenha sido uma sala cheia, o interesse e esmero dos alunos ali presentes – entre 15 e 65 anos – mais do que compensou o trabalho investido na preparação das aulas, que tentei fossem o mais completas possíveis para optimizar as quatro sessões de 3h cada. Procurei transmitir diversas valências para a compreensão e produção duma banda desenhada, desde as abordagens básicas ao desenho até às intricâncias dos vários modos de narrativa sequencial e das componentes do design que as caracterizam, e foi fantástico ver os formandos integrarem os conhecimentos nos respectivos trabalhos.

 

Tive ainda o prazer de privar com colegas do sector, ali como convidados do museu, que estiveram no centro das Conversas Abertas/Colóquios que o estabelecimento continuou a oferecer aos alunos e ao público geral, e que nos permitiu perceber os seus processos criativos e póstura profissional no sector. Obrigado ao Bernardo Majer, Daniela Viçoso e Daniel Maia pelas suas partilhas.

No último dia, com a presença do autor Penim Loureiro, tivemos ainda a oportunidade para fazer uma surpresa e oferecer-lhe uma impressão com o seu prémio para Melhor Desenho, atribuído pelo público leitor através do XV Troféus Central Comics.

E por último mas não menos importante, um enorme obrigado aos alunos – em breve, também colegas, espero! – por toda a atenção e esforço com que receberam os conteúdos e desenvolveram os exercícios. Quem sabe se não será possível compilar esses trabalhos numa mostra colectiva ou edição?...

The 2nd module of the II Comics Course at the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum ended 3 weeks ago, which I had the great pleasure of coordinating, after an invitation from director João Alpuim and teacher/coordinator Penim Loureiro. Although it wasn't a crowded room, the interest and dedication of the students there – ranging from 15 to 65 y.o. – more than compensated the work invested in the preparation of the classes, which I tried to make as complete as possible to optimize the four sessions of 3h each. I attempted to convey various advantages for the understanding and production of comics, from basic approaches to drawing to the intricacies of the various forms of sequential narrative and the design components that characterize them, and it was fantastic to see the trainees integrate this knowledge into their work.

I also had the pleasure of hangout with colleagues from the community, there as invited guests, that were at the center of the Open Conversations/Conference that the museum continued to offer students and the general public, and that allowed us to perceive their creative processes and posture in the field. Thanks to Bernardo Majer, Daniela Viçoso and Daniel Maia for their sharing.

In the last day, with author Penim Loureiro present, we still had the opportunity to surprize him by offering a print with his award for Best Penciler, determined by the readers through the XV Central Comics Awards.

And last but not least, a huge thank you to the students – soon, also colleagues, hopefully! – for all the attention and effort with which they received the contents and developed the exercises. Who knows if we won't soon have a compilation of these works in a collective exhibit or publication? ... "Excelsior!" as someone we know would say ;)
